Milestone events deserve big celebrations.
I was so excited to work with Tanya to make her dream of having a murder mystery dinner party to celebrate her 40th birthday come true. She wanted to celebrate with her nearest and dearest and ensure that they created memories together that would last a lifetime. I was just so happy to be part of it!
Tanya found the perfect venue for her party – Ginger and Lime Food Studio in Fresnaye, Cape Town. It is one of the few venues in Cape Town that offers a private dining experience. I often find it’s exciting to use the venue as the springboard for the murder mystery’s theme, because that way you will have the look and feel pre-built into your game, so I was incredibly excited to explore a foodie scheme for her special party.
Party GuestThanks to everyone for a truly glorious evening. We laughed and laughed and laughed. So much fun and a perfect way to celebrate the 40th of the lovely Tanya
This particular murder mystery game included an immersive and interactive murder mystery experience, complete with a party host (moi), bespoke stationery, delicious food, and plenty of fun and laughs along the way. I even designed a fictitious recipe book cover so that we could launch the murder victim’s new recipe book. The murder mystery is tailored to the specific venue, so in this case I created a storyline featuring a murder at a Michelin-star chef’s book launch.
What did the murder mystery dinner birthday girl have to say?
Everyone, I canβt thank you enough for all of your effort and enthusiasm. You all looked so great and your outfits definitely suited the characters you were assigned. You made my party so amazing and I absolutely loved it! Thank you thank you thank you. πππ

The cast of characters included the murder victim (the fictional Lorenzo la Grasse), the suspects (a variety of different and colourful guests including Tanya). I wrote customized character sketches for each party guest that brought out their unique personalities and quirks.

One of my favorite moments from the murder mystery dinner evening was when the psychic, Esmerelda, began to sense the dearly departed’s presence at the dinner table. She started to receive a message the murder victim’s ghost, who then dictated his last words to her, all while the table was shaking. (Esmerelda was obviously shaking the table herself π And it was all totally improvised!
Thanks so much everyone! It was such a fabulous evening! It was so wonderful to get to know everyone who is so near and dear to our special friend!!!!!
