16 Characters + 4 Expendable Characters
Murder at the Rockstock Festival is a Caribbean murder mystery game centred on the most dramatic will reading the islands have ever seen — and one of the most outrageously entertaining murder mystery birthday party games in our collection. Guests are gathered at the Caribbean home of the recently deceased founder of the legendary Rockstock Festival, where the executor of the estate will host proceedings for an eccentric group of heirs, employees, and hangers-on whose lives were all shaped — and in some cases ruined — by their connection to the festival. From a seasoned scam artist to nutty employees and highfalutin family members, the guest list alone promises an evening of chaos. Take your décor to the next level by creating a shrine in honour of the departed — and let the interrogations begin.
After mingling over arrival drinks and canapés, guests are invited to take their seats at the dinner table, where damning information is bound to be revealed, casting each character in a thoroughly murderous light.
“I’ve had the good fortune of attending a handful of Lisa’s murder mystery dinners, and she also created a custom murder mystery for my dad’s 50th birthday party. She is so creative, a master at what she does, and every single one of these events has been hilarious and the most fun ever. I’ve been surprised and delighted by the way in which even shy guests commit to their carefully allocated roles and I have never met anyone who didn’t love the experience. Highly recommended!” – Rebecca Meissner
This is not a passive experience — and it is not a scripted one either. The Rockstock Festival is 90% improvised, making it one of the most freewheeling and unpredictable games in our collection. Every guest arrives as a character with a backstory, a secret, and a motive rooted in their history with the festival. Each character must be interrogated by the rest of the table when their secret is revealed — and the only rule is that you may not contradict the information on your Clue Cards. Otherwise, get as creative, outlandish, or bodacious as you like. When all the secrets have been revealed, it’s up to the dinner guests to piece together the facts and motives to discover the identity of the murderer. At the end of the night, guests may vote for Best Male Character, Best Female Character, and Best Dressed. The prizes are up to you.
The game caters for a minimum of 16 guests (5 male characters and 11 female characters) of varying ages, with an additional 4 expendable male characters for slightly larger parties.
The fully designed printable kit includes everything you need to host a seamless evening: the Invitation to set the scene before the night, a Character List, Place Cards and Name Tags for the dinner table, Clue Cards to drive the investigation, the Host’s Order of Events to keep the evening on track, the Murder Victim’s Speech, and the Note Announcing the Discovery of the Dead Body.
Please note: for the game to succeed, you must use all the characters with secrets. There are an additional 4 characters without secrets to keep or reveal that may be added at your discretion.
Murder Mystery Guide games are conceived and designed in Cape Town, and played everywhere — from living rooms to luxury venues across South Africa and beyond. Every game in our collection is an original production: fully designed, largely improvised, and built for real people, not trained actors. No scripts to memorise, no experience required — just great company and a willingness to have fun. Whether you’re hosting a milestone birthday, a private dinner party, or a celebration with a Caribbean twist, we give every guest a role, a secret, and a reason to stay at the table.
